Origin
The Episcia cupreata 'Pink Acajou', also known as the flame violets, is originally a tropical plant from Central and South America. It belongs to the Gesneriaceae family and is mainly found in rainforests where it grows at low levels.
Characteristics
A distinctive feature of the 'Pink Acajou' is its striking, brightly coloured leaf with a soft, velvety surface. The plant produces deep pink, trumpet-shaped flowers that can bloom throughout the year. It is a compact plant that can grow up to about 30 centimetres high and generally becomes wider than it is tall.
Care
The 'Pink Acajou' needs a warm, humid environment and steady growing conditions throughout the year. The plant can thrive in both bright indirect light and in semi-shade. It needs well-draining soil and it's important that the soil remains slightly moist. Despite its tropical origin, this plant cannot cope well with waterlogging.
