Origin
The Aloe dichotoma, better known as the quiver tree, is a tree-like succulent originating from southern Africa. Its natural habitat mainly consists of dry, rocky slopes and plains, usually in desert-like areas. The species is predominantly found in Namibia and South Africa. The local population considers this unique plant as a sacred tree.

Characteristics
Characteristic of the Aloe dichotoma are its smooth, light-coloured bark and its dichotomous (bifurcated) branching pattern, from which it derives its scientific name. The leaves of the tree are fleshy and sharp, and grow in rosettes at the end of the branches. The plant blooms in the winter and produces clusters of bright yellow flowers. The quiver tree can grow up to a height of 7 meters, making it one of the tallest species of aloe plants.

Care
The Aloe dichotoma requires little maintenance and is extremely drought tolerant. It prefers a sunny location and grows well in well-draining soil. It can withstand light frost, but prolonged exposure to freezing conditions should be avoided. Too much water, especially in the winter, can lead to root rot, so it is advisable to be careful with watering. Annual fertilisation with a slow-release fertiliser promotes healthy growth and flowering.
