DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Phoenix roebelenii, also known as the dwarf date palm, has its origin in Southeast Asia. In particular, the plant is native to the rainforests of Laos, Vietnam and Southern China. Here, the Phoenix roebelenii grows along riverbanks and in marshy areas, but also in drier soil in the shade of larger trees.

Characteristics
The Phoenix roebelenii is a small to medium-sized palm that generally reaches a height between 2 and 6 metres. The leaves of the Phoenix roebelenii are feathery and can take on different shades of green. A noticeable feature of this palm is its slender trunk covered with old leaf bases. The plant also produces small yellow flowers that grow into oval, black-red fruits.

Care
Bright but indirect lighting is beneficial for the care of the Phoenix roebelenii. Although the plant can tolerate some degree of drought, it thrives best in well-drained soil and with regular watering. Just like in its original habitat, Phoenix roebelenii survives both in high humidity and in drier conditions. It is important to protect the plant from temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius in the winter months.
