The Ginkgo Biloba Simon, better known as the Chinese ginkgo, is a tree species that originates in China. The tree is a living fossil and belongs to a very ancient plant species that all other species are extinct from.

Characteristics
The Ginkgo Biloba Simon has unique fan-shaped leaves that appear in late spring and are green to yellow in colour. The tree is dioecious, meaning there are both male and female trees. These are typically grown from seeds or cuttings and can attain a height of 50 to 80 feet. The tree is resistant to pollution and diseases, which is why it is often planted in urban environments.

Care
The Ginkgo Biloba Simon prefers sunny to semi-shaded environments and grows in nearly any type of soil. Fertilisation and watering are important in the first years of growth, but once established, the tree is self-sustaining. Maintenance is generally limited to the removal of dead or damaged branches.
